CLASSES

 

RECURRING EVENTS

 

Finishing School: Here is a day when you can share ideas, get inspired, & make new quilting friends. Every Tuesday, you can enjoy friendship, coffee, & tea between 9:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. Homemade soup available for lunch too! Bring your own project to work on. Come and go when it suits. $3/ Session.

Charity Quilting:  This dedicated group of ladies is looking for a few more to join their group. They meet one Friday a month to sew lap quilts for the local shelters. Fabric is provided as well as a home-cooked lunch. Bring along your machine and your sense of humour.  Next session to be determined. $20 each session.

Friday Fun Night:  6:00 to 10:00 p.m.  Join in the fun!  Gather with your friends for an evening of quilting and lots of laughs. Next Fun Nite TBD.   Nibbles and refreshments at 6:00 p.m.; class starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by pizza. $30 each night.

Knotty Girls: Meet together monthly with other stitchers to share ideas and patterns. Keep up with the latest ideas and patterns. Instructions provided for new stitchers. Starts Friday, September 24, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. $40 for four months.

 

Stitching Club:  This club meets once a month to enjoy stitching. You can learn new stitches, choose new patterns or work on patterns of your own. There will be a selection of the latest patterns available for you to order. First meeting is Saturday, September 18, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.. $40 for 4 months.

Knitting Club: Join this fun group for an afternoon of stitches on needles. There is help and instruction. Bring your own project, or start a new one.  There is a hat on 4 needles if you don’t have a project. Patterns and ideas will be shared. Just drop in on Tuesday afternoon from  1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Enjoy tea with other knitters, knit in our sunny back classroom and watch the cardinals on the feeder. $5/session.

 

REGULAR CLASSES

Book a lesson on our Tin Lizzie, then quilt your own tops. This is a fun alternative to having someone quilt for you. It is easier than you think!  Classes are limited to 3 students and fill quickly, so sign up soon. Next class TBD.

Bali Star: Wednesday, July 7, 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. $35

The Shop Hop project will be done! This impressive star makes a lovely tablecloth, wall hanging or full quilt. You choose the size.

Introduction to Red Work: Thursday, July 8, 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. $30

Try this traditional stitching technique; see all the ways you can use these stitches in your quilts.

Reversible Bag: Tuesday, July 13, 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. $30

Made with four fat quarters. Can you believe it? Good for shopping, class projects or as a gift

Crazy Quilting: Wednesday, July 14, 10:30  a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  $30

This is the traditional way to do crazy patch. You will make a piece of fabric that can be made into a bag, a pillow or a Christmas stocking. You could make a quilt too!

Beginner Machine Quilting: Thursday, July 15, 10:00 a.m. –  4.00 p.m. $60

Learn the basics of machine quilting. Learn how to prepare and baste a quilt for machine quilting. Find out about battings, needles and threads, and machine tension. The first half of the class will teach you how to use the walking foot for channels, ditch and curve quilting. After that, you will move on to free motion stippling, meandering, and how to use stencils.

Quick Striped Runner: Tuesday July 20, 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  $30

Make a runner for your patio table or for shower & birthday gifts. Make Christmas gifts now!

Christmas TreeWednesday, July 21, 10:30 a.m. –  2:00 p.m.  $30

This 3-D tree looks great on your door and is a fun gift.

Flying Geese:  Wednesday, July 21, 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. $25 

Solve the mystery of accurate flying geese with this amazing one seam method.

Bali Bag, or Bowl: Thursday, July 22, 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.,  $35

This project can be made with the Bali Pops, or from your choice of fabric. We carry the cotton rope required for these projects.

Fractures:  Friday, July 23, 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., $40.

Back again! Take a fabric and fracture it! New samples of this awesome technique on display.

 

Christmas Stocking:  Tuesday, July 27, 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., $25.

Use your crazy patch fabric to make a stocking, or choose your own design. This is a quick, fully lined stocking is great for the newest member of the family.

Shoulder Sling Bag: Wednesday, July 28, 10:30 a.m. – 1: 00 p.m. $25

That wonderful hold-all bag is back! Make one, make many!!

Red & White Circles Galore: Thurs., July 29, 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. $40

A great technique to learn, imagine it in black and white,  batik, or Asian fabrics. The choice is limitless for a spectacular wall hanging, tablecloth or quilt.

Fabric Dyeing: Thursday, Aug. 12, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Rain date Aug. 13) $75

This course is an introduction to low-water immersion dyeing using Procion MX fibre reactive dyes for natural fibers. Students will take home 16 fat quarters of dyed fabric. Fee includes the fabric.

 

African Bag: Saturday, October 9 & 16, Noon – 3:00 p.m. $50

In this class you will learn to paper piece your choice of animals for your bag, then stitch it up, handles will be available to purchase, if you wish.

Beginner Quilting: Thurs., Sept. 16, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., 8 weeks   $85.

This is the place to start. You will learn the basics as well as the new quick methods. By completing this sampler you will learn all you need to know to make a full size quilt. In the first lesson, you will learn about colour, composition and how to choose your fabric. This project makes a beautiful bed runner (the latest fashion!).

 

 

Rug Hooking - See below

Rug Hooking: Learn this traditional rug hooking technique. Loretta will have kits for you to purchase and will teach you how to be a hooker. New designs are available.  Next class is Saturday, May 29, 10:00 a.m. -  2:00 p.m. $40. There will also be a class for experienced hookers following this class - get finishing tips and techniques; 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. $15.

 

 

A $10, non-refundable deposit is required at registration for a class.

If the class for which you are registered disappears from the list, don’t panic!

It means that the class is full, not cancelled!

Wellspring offers over 40 different cancer support programs and services, at no charge and without referral, to meet the emotional, social, psychological and informational needs of people living with cancer and those who care for them. Wellspring centres are non-institutional and non-residential. They are warm and supportive communities, built on the needs of patients and their loved ones.
